MANG6150 Organisation Change and Transition

The aims of this course are to enhance students’ understanding of issues and controversies in the management of change, transition and transformation and relate them to the HR function. It is concerned with the development of capabilities that HR professionals and line managers need to utilise in order to play an effective role in the strategic change arena in their organisations.


MANG6240 Social Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

This module is designed to raise the awareness, and develop understanding, of social entrepreneurship and the emergence of a new form of organization – social enterprises embedded within a changing national and international socioeconomic and political context. The emphasis is on the entrepreneurial skills and frameworks required to create and manage a growing social venture. You will learn the role that social entrepreneurs play in society and the key challenges that they face in their work; and examine leadership, organizational and structural aspects of social entrepreneurship that are important for the formation and sustainable growth of social ventures.


MANG6294 Responsible Leadership

This module covers the principles and practices of responsible leadership. It looks at the philosophical foundations of ethics and applies principles to real-life cases and hypothetical dilemmas. Techniques of ethical management are presented. Causes and consequences of unethical business practices are discussed, along with theories of ethical decision making.


UOSM2022 Social Enterprise

This is an interactice and practical module aiming to inspire students to social entrepreneurship by giving them an experiential introduction to human centred design processes. The emphasis in this module is on the translation of knowledge into action and the development of enterprising skills such as identifying user needs and addressing these through collaborative co-design and action, being resourceful and leadership. A secondary aim is to develop students' confidence in developing a personal brand using blogging and social media. A third aim is to raise an awareness of the support available to students for social enterprise activities at the university (both financial and non-financial).
