  • UnLtd and HEFCE HE Support InitiativeSocial entrepreneurship is a rapidly growing movement within the HE sector and Plymouth University has been chosen as a pioneering partner for the UnLtd and HEFCE HE Support Initiative. Plymouth is one of 56 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in England to partner with UnLtd on this initiative to embed a culture of social entrepreneurship within their institution and across the Higher Education sector. Cash grants from £500 are available. The University has a new round of cash awards for budding social entrepreneurs who are Plymouth University staff, students and 2013 graduates. You can register your interest by emailing socialenterprise@plymouth.ac.uk. Applicants for the UnLtd and HEFCE HE Support Initiative will be able to access the expert help available through the Tectona Business Challenge before submitting an application for funding via a Tectona outline business plan.
  • The Social Enterprise University Enterprise Network (SE-UEN)The Social Enterprise University Enterprise Network (SE-UEN) is dedicated to extend and demonstrate the value of social enterprise for social and economic benefit, drawing on local, national and international expertise and knowledge. Working with our partners, we have created a network for innovation, and sharing best practice and research in social enterprise. Launched in February 2012, and based within the Research and Innovation Directorate of Plymouth University, the SE-UEN offers a range of bespoke services to clients, and has a reputation built on excellence in objective and independent research and analytical methods that are of real value to our users. Our priorities Policy and research for policy makers To undertake research in social enterprise best practice for national and local policy development Support and training for HEI students and staff To ensure that HEI students and staff understand the wider benefits of social enterprise business models, and have the capacity and skills to build their own Creating and sustaining for social enterprises To help social enterprises become more competitive and sustainable
