This module complements VAM020L002 by focusing on the distinctive organisational challenges faced by voluntary and community sector organisations and those who manage and lead them.

Research Methods

Provides students with an understanding of methodological theories underpinning both quantitative and qualitative approaches to research and with a practical knowledge of how to design and carry out a research project.

The Economics of Welfare

This module extends the students' ability to analyse and evaluate the environment in which voluntary and community sector organisations operate and the respective contributions to meeting social need of the state, the market and voluntary action

The Legal Framework of Voluntary Action

This module builds on the discussion of accountability and regulation provided by VAM020L001.

The Voluntary Organisation in Context

This module provides students with: an introduction to the principal theories of the voluntary sector; the historical and current social policy context in which voluntary agencies operate.
