NGO사회혁신학과는 경희학원의 창학이념을 구현하기 위하여 경희사이버대학교 개교와 함께 설립된 NGO학과의 전통을 계승하고 사회혁신과 기후 위기의 극복을 이끌어 갈 새로운 인재들을 양성하기 위한 미래지향적 학과입니다. 이제 우리나라는 기본적인 민주제도의 수립과 경제 성장 우선의 단계를 넘어 실질적으로 시민들이 중심이 되는 협치 사회, 사회적 합의와 정의를 바탕으로 한 경제 민주사회를 바탕으로 기후 위기를 극복하고 지속 가능한 미래로 나아가기 위해 문명적 대전환의 시대를 열어야 합니다. 시민들의 정당한 요구와 창의적인 아이디어들을 한데 모아 사회적 가치를 실현하고 기후 위기, 팬데믹 등 문명적 위기를 극복할 혁신적 체제와 사회적 디자인이 필요한 때인 것입니다. NGO사회혁신학과는 이를 위해 지속 가능한 미래를 열어 갈 의욕과 정열을 가진 분들과 함께 연구하고 함께 토론하는 시민적 혁신의 마당이 되고자 합니다.

학과 목표
첫째, 급변하는 문명적 변화 속에서 한국 시민사회 및 지구시민사회가 요구하는 인재상에 부합하는 자질, 품성, 전문성을 갖춘 전인적 품격의 지구 시민을 양성한다. 1980년대 민주화운동이 성공적으로 마무리된 이후 지난 30년간 한국 정치와 시민사회는 큰 변화를 겪어 왔으며 민주적 성과와 더불어 수많은 미해결의 과제 또한 쌓여 왔다. 특히 시민의 참여와 역량을 중심으로 해결해야 할 절박한 기후변화, 팬데믹 같은 문명적 위기와 심각한 사회 문제들 앞에서 통찰력, 창의력, 소통 능력을 가진 지구 시민적 리더십을 갖추도록 한다.

둘째, 문명의 전환과 기후 위기에 대처할 미래 지향적인 리더와 정책수립자를 육성한다. NGO사회혁신학과는 우리 사회의 중요한 현안들에 대한 민주적, 시민적 안목을 기르고 다양한 정책적 이슈들을 다룰 수 있는 역량을 키워나갈 수 있도록 교육하는 한편, 보다 구체적으로 문명적 위기와 기후 위기에 대응하고 지속 가능한 사회를 만들어 갈 지식과 관점을 제공하여 기후변화 정책, ESG 등 당면한 문제를 해결할 정책수립자를 육성한다.

셋째, 디지털 시대의 민주주의와 사회혁신에 대한 이론적 지식과 다양한 실천 방향 및 성과 사례를 교육함으로써 새롭고 실질적인 사회변화 및 정책을 이끌어 갈 수 있는 소양을 갖추도록 한다. 특히 디지털 전환의 시대적 특성을 이해하고 디지털 민주주의와 디지털 사회혁신의 새로운 영역을 창출할 수 있는 관점과 사회디자인을 교육한다.

넷째, 기후변화 및 환경과 관련된 다양한 기관 및 사회적 기업들과의 네트워킹을 통해 현장 감각을 배우고 졸업 후 진로 설정에 현실적 도움이 되도록 지원한다.

The NGO Department of Social Innovation is a future-oriented department that inherits the tradition of NGOs established with the opening of Kyunghee Cyber University to realize Kyunghee Academy's original philosophy and fosters new talents to lead social innovation and weather crisis. Now, Korea must go beyond the basic democratic system and prioritize economic growth to overcome the climate crisis and move toward a sustainable future based on cooperative society, social consensus and justice. It is time for innovative systems and social designs to realize social values by bringing together legitimate needs and creative ideas of citizens and overcome civilizational crises such as the climate crisis and the pandemic. To this end, the Department of Social Innovation of NGOs aims to become a yard for civil innovation where people who are motivated and passionate to open a sustainable future study and discuss together.

Firstly, in the midst of rapidly changing civilization, we will cultivate global citizens with full dignity with qualities, characteristics, and expertise that meet the talent required by Korean civil society and global civil society. Since the successful completion of the democratization movement in the 1980s, Korean politics and civil society have undergone major changes over the past 30 years, and many unresolved tasks have been piled up along with democratic achievements. In particular, global civic leadership with insight, creativity, and communication skills should be established in the face of civilizational crises and serious social problems such as urgent climate change and pandemic that need to be addressed centering on citizens' participation and capabilities.

Second, foster future-oriented leaders and policymakers to cope with the transition of civilization and climate crisis. The NGO Department of Social Innovation fosters policymakers to solve problems such as climate change policies and ESG by providing knowledge and perspective to develop a more specifically responding to civil and climate crisis and creating a sustainable society.

Third, by educating theoretical knowledge on democracy and social innovation in the digital era and various practice directions and performance cases, we should have the knowledge to lead new and practical social changes and policies. In particular, it educates the perspective and social design that can understand the characteristics of the times of digital transformation and create new areas of digital democracy and digital social innovation.

Fourth, through networking with various institutions and social enterprises related to climate change and the environment, we learn the sense of the field and support them to be realistic in setting their careers after graduation."
