NPO活動

NPOs and non-profit organizations are organizations that do not distribute profits but give back broadly to the public interest, but many people do not properly understand the "non-profit" concept. In this course, the following three methods will be used: (1) a lecture on the definition of NPOs, their actual activities, and social significance; (2) fieldwork to visit NPOs working on "child poverty" and "youth employment support" as case studies of NPOs; and (3) summary and discussion of the field research. The objectives of the course are to be able to explain what NPOs are, to understand the social issues for which they are needed, and to understand the significance of their activities in realizing social benefit. The course will focus on the social roles and significance of NPOs and their management issues.

NPO・非営利組織とは、利益を配分せず広く社会公益に還元する組織のことだが、「非営利」概念を正しく理解していない人が多いのが現状である。本科目では、①NPOの定義及び活動実態、社会的意義に関する講義、②NPOの事例調査として「子どもの貧困」「若者の就労支援」に取り組むNPOを訪問するフィールドワーク、③フィールド調査をまとめディスカッションする方法で展開する。学習の到達目標は、NPOとは何かを説明できるようになること、またNPOが必要とされる社会課題を理解し、社会公益の実現という活動の意義を理解できるようになることである。NPO活動は多様な活動分野に広がっているため、本科目で社会保障、まちづくり分野のNPO活動に限定しNPOが担う社会的役割や意義と経営課題を扱うことにする。
