Introduction to NPOs

NPO概論

NPOs are called non-profit organizations and are defined as private organizations that do not pursue profit. It was not until after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995 that NPOs became socially relevant in Japan. In recent years, social business, which has the same goals as NPOs but is more business-oriented, has emerged. In this lecture, NPOs will be considered in a broad sense that includes social business, and the history, institutions, management, and policies of NPOs will be specifically examined to learn the basic theories and concepts of NPOs. The level of the class is beginner level.

NPOは非営利組織と呼ばれ、利益を追求しない組織である民間団体と定義される。日本でNPOが社会的に位置づけられたのは、1995年に発生した阪神・淡路大震災以降である。近年ではNPOと同じ目標を持ちながら、よりビジネスを志向するソーシャルビジネスも台頭している。本講義では、NPOをソーシャルビジネスを含む広義に捉え、NPOの歴史、制度、経営、政策を具体的に検討することで、NPOの基礎理論と概念を学ぶ。授業のレベルは初級レベルである。
