Currently, the world's population is approximately 7.2 billion people, of which 736 million live on less than $1.25 a day (2015) More than 150 of the 193 UN member states need aid for development The economic disparity between the North and South is shrinking. In addition, the economic gap between North and South has widened rather than narrowed: from 30 to 1 in 1960, the global wealth gap was 114 to 1 in 2001. These issues are deeply related to global political and economic trends. Who on earth can solve these issues and how can we create a sustainable global society? International cooperation and development assistance activities are being conducted at various levels to solve these issues, but they are not having a significant effect.
This class is planned against the background of awareness of the above issues, and aims to provide students with basic knowledge about today's international cooperation activities as well as elementary training in thinking about these issues. The first half of the lecture will cover the structure of international cooperation, and the second half will cover the various areas of global issues that are the subject of cooperation.
The course will be conducted through a combination of lectures, discussions, and group presentations. In addition, a written exam will be given at the end of the semester. Students are not allowed to bring in any books or other materials.

現在、世界人口はおよそ72億人で、その内1日1.25ドル以下で生活している人が7億3600万人もいる（2015年）。１９３の国連加盟国のうち150以上の国々が開発のための援助を必要としている。また、南北の経済格差は縮小するどころか拡大してきている。1960年に30対1だった世界の貧富の格差は、2001年には114対1になっている。こういった問題が、グローバルな政治・経済の動向と深く関係している。一体誰が、どうやって、これらの課題を解決し、持続可能な地球社会を創ることができるのでしょうか。これらの課題解決に向けてさまざまなレベルで国際協力・開発支援活動が行われているが、大きな効果をもたらしていないのが現状である。
以上のような問題意識を背景に本授業が計画されており、今日の国際協力活動に関して、基礎的な知識を得ると共に、この問題を考える初歩的な訓練を行うことを目指す。本講義の構成として、前半では、国際協力の仕組みを学び、後半では、協力の対象となる地球規模の課題（Global Issue)の各分野を取り上げる。
本授業の進め方は、講義・ディスカッションとグループ別プレゼンテーションを組み合わる。さらに期末に筆記試験を行う。☜本や資料の持ち込みは不可。
