NPO・NGO論

This session will examine the activities of NPOs and NGOs, in which citizens are the actors, that are attracting attention in Japan and abroad today. NPOs began to attract attention in Japan with the volunteer activities following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, followed by the enactment and enforcement of the NPO Law in 1998, which quickly revitalized social contribution activities in Japan. In India, tens of thousands of volunteer organizations are in operation, and in the United States, NPOs provide activities and employment opportunities for more than 5 million citizens. It is also a field in which many women can be active. This lecture aims to provide students with an understanding of the origins, workings, potentials, and challenges of NPOs and NGOs, using a wealth of case studies. The lecturer will also review the characteristics, achievements, and challenges of SEWA, a women's NGO in India, which she has researched and studied. In addition, the course aims to provide a developmental study of various civil society organizations (CSOs), including social business, and philanthro-capitalism as next-generation business models.

今日国内外で注目される、市民がアクターとなるNPO・NGOの活動について検討します。日本でNPOが注目されはじめたのは阪神淡路大震災時のボランティア活動がきっかけで､その後1998年のNPO法の成立･施行により､日本の社会貢献活動は一気に活性化します｡インドでは数万ものボランティア組織が稼働し、アメリカでは500万人以上の市民に活動や雇用の機会を提供しています。また女性が多く活動できる分野でもあります。この講義は、NPO・NGOの成り立ち、働き、可能性や課題について、豊富な事例を踏まえながら理解することをねらいとします。また講師が調査・研究してきたインドの女性NGO・SEWAについて、その特徴と成果、課題を検討します。さらに次世代型事業として、ソーシャル・ビジネスなど多様な市民社会組織(Civil Society Organization:CSO)と、フィランソロ・キャピタリズムを発展的に学ぶことを目的とします。

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the concept and history of volunteerism, as well as an understanding of volunteer organizations and practical perspectives and skills through group work and fieldwork, and to enable students to understand volunteerism from a micro, meso, and macro perspective.

本講義ではボランティアの概念、歴史といった基礎的学習とともに、グループワークやフィールドワークを通してボランティア組織の理解や実践的な視点や技術を身につけ、ミクロ・メゾ・マクロの視点でボランティアについて理解できるようになることを目的としている。

The role of "NPOs (non-profit organizations)" as civic action organizations in addition to government and private companies is becoming more and more important to solve the problems of local communities in today's society. In addition, NPOs are positioned as one of the options for a fulfilling and prosperous way of life in a society with a declining population, diversifying values, and a growing desire to contribute to society. This lecture aims to deepen students' understanding of NPOs, which are leaders in creating a society in which citizens participate, and to provide them with the basic knowledge and aspirations required for their activities. Specifically, students will learn about the social background of NPOs, their basic activity philosophy, organizational establishment, management structure, fundraising methods, etc., as well as the current significance of NPOs and the rewards of NPO activities by listening to the voices of invited guest speakers from NPOs in the field.

現代社会における地域社会の課題を解決するためにに向けて行政や民間企業に加えて市民活動組織としての「NPO（非営利組織）」の役割がますます重要となっています。また、人口減少社会や価値観の多様化、社会貢献志向の高まりの中で、充実した「豊かな生き方」の選択肢の一つとして「NPO]が位置付けられるようになっています。本講義では、市民が参画する社会創造の担い手である「NPO」について理解を深め、その活動において求めらえる基礎的な知識と志を身につけることを目的としています。具体的には、「NPO」の社会的な背景、基本的な活動理念や組織設立、運営の仕組み、資金調達の方法などを学ぶとともに、現場での実践するNPO団体のゲストスピーカーをお招きし生の声を聞くことで、「NPO」の今日的な意義や「NPO」活動のやりがいなどを伺います。
