In recent years, NPOs have become increasingly important as bearers of the "public" good. Internationally, many NGOs participate in United Nations conferences and other events, and their influence is growing. In this course, students will learn about NPOs and NGOs, which are gaining importance domestically and internationally, including the history and background of their birth, legal systems, organizations, actual activities, and relationships with other actors (local governments, central government, international organizations, etc.), and consider the roles and future issues of NPOs and NGOs.
The class will proceed in the form of group work, with students themselves thinking and presenting their opinions, rather than a one-way lecture by the instructor. At the end of the class, students are sometimes asked to submit their impressions of the class and "comments of awareness" to confirm their level of understanding.
