NPO and NGO

NPOとNGO

Social issues often appear in weak areas of the community, and the government is often unable to address the issues immediately. In many cases, citizens who first become aware of the issues begin working to solve them. The NPO system supports such activities. It has been more than 20 years since the NPO Law was enacted, and the name NPO has gained a certain level of citizenship. NPOs play a certain role in most fields, such as welfare, the environment, and children. On the other hand, their actual status is not so well known. Therefore, in this class, we will share basic knowledge about NPOs and learn what they do and what they aim to achieve. The purpose of this class is not to gain knowledge about NPOs and NGOs, but to learn how to recognize issues, think about them, and solve them by oneself. We hope that the participants will grasp what they need to do and what they need to do to take action.

社会課題は地域の弱いところに現れ、行政がすぐには課題に取り組むことができない場合が多い。多くは、まず課題に気づいた市民が解決に向けて取り組み始める。そういう活動をサポートするのがNPOという仕組みで、NPO法ができて20年を超え、NPOという名称も一定の市民権を得ている。福祉分野、環境分野、子供関連の分野等、ほとんどの分野で、NPOは一定の役割を果たしている。その一方で、実態についてはさほど知られていない。そこで、この授業では、NPOについての基礎知識を共有するとともに、NPOは何のために、何を目指して活動しているのかを学ぶ。具体的な活動については、NPOの一線で働くゲストを招き、現場ではどうやって社会課題に気づき、自ら動き、共感する人を増やし、活動を展開させていくかを学ぶ。NPOやNGOについての知識を得ることが目的ではなく、自分自身で課題に気づき、考え、課題を解決するためには何をすればいいのか、行動するきっかけを掴んでもらえればと思っています。
