Fieldwork is a method of social research in which the researcher goes out into the field to see, hear, and think for himself/herself. By going into the field and gathering specific information on various issues that are latent in the immediate environment of society and individuals, the researcher gains a deeper understanding of these issues.
In this class, students will deepen their understanding of social problems in their immediate surroundings through practical fieldwork, and cultivate their "way of seeing and understanding things" and "problem-finding skills.
In local communities, there are people who are exposed to various difficulties such as disabilities, poverty, and discrimination. When these problems are beyond the reach of the government or corporations, they have traditionally been left as personal issues. In recent years, however, citizens themselves have taken the initiative in organizing NPOs to improve and solve these problems.
In the first half of the class, students will gather information on local NPOs to gain a concrete understanding of social problems in the community. In the second half, based on the research in the first half, they will set their own research targets, gather and organize information, and deepen their understanding of fieldwork that leads to social contributions.

フィールドワークとは、調査者自身が現場に出て、自ら見て、聞いて、考える社会調査の方法である。社会や個人など身近な環境に潜む諸問題について、現場に赴き具体的な情報を収集することでその問題をより深く捉えていく。
授業では、フィールドワークの実践を通じて身近にある社会的諸問題への理解を深めるとともに、「ものの見方・捉え方」「問題の発見力」を涵養する。
地域社会には、障がい、貧困、差別など様々な困難にさらされている方々がいる。その問題が行政では手が回らない、企業では手を出さないものである場合、従来は個人的問題として放置されてきた。しかし、近年では市民自身が主体となってNPOを組織し、それら問題の改善・解決に取り組んでいる。
授業の前半では、地元のNPOの情報を収集し、地域にある社会的問題を具体的に理解し、後半では、前半の調査を踏まえながら、自分たちで調査対象を設定して情報を収集・整理し、社会貢献につながるフィールドワークについて理解を深めていく。

NPO・ボランティアマネジメント総論

A non-profit organization (NPO) is an organization that promotes the public interest by quickly and pioneeringly addressing a variety of social issues, such as welfare, education, the environment, human rights, and community development, on a non-profit basis. In Japan, NPOs have been attracting attention since the 1990s as a means of contributing to society, and citizens are taking the initiative in addressing and resolving issues that are difficult for government agencies and businesses to approach. There are currently about 50,000 NPOs nationwide, supporting society and individuals by addressing a wide range of local issues. In the class, students learn basic knowledge about NPOs and the volunteers who participate in their activities, and work in small groups to create plans to solve problems. 「NPO（Non Profit Organization）」とは、福祉、教育、環境、人権、地域づくりなど多様な社会的課題に対して非営利を前提に迅速で先駆的に対応しようとする公益推進団体といえる。日本においても1990年代から社会貢献の担い手として注目されはじめ、行政や企業ではアプローチが難しい諸課題に対して市民が主体となって改善・解決に取り組んでいる。NPOの中でも行政の認証を受けた団体を「NPO法人」というが、現在では全国に５万程度のNPO法人が存在し、多様な地域課題などにアプローチし、社会や個人を支えている。「NPOマネージメント」とは、NPOがその目的を達成するために、「ヒト」「モノ」「カネ」「情報」などの活動資源を有機的・能率的に管理・運営することであり、授業ではNPOやその事業に参画するボランティアなどに関する基本的知識を学ぶと共に、少人数グループに分かれて問題解決にむけた企画づくりを実践しながらNPOマネジメントについて具体的に理解する。
