The course will examine the role of NGOs/NPOs in global society from a comprehensive and multifaceted viewpoint, taking into consideration what NGOs/NPOs (non-governmental organizations)/NPOs (non-profit organizations) are, their background, philosophy, fields of activity, cooperation with international organizations, government agencies, universities and private companies, relationship with social corporations, civic activities and social movements, and more. The course will take up specific issues and approaches of organizations, groups, and volunteer activities that address global social issues such as immigration and refugee problems, and examine them from both practical and theoretical perspectives.
