Inclusive Design (User Participatory Design) is an international design initiative led by the Helen Hamlyn Center for Design at the Royal College of Art in the United Kingdom and others. It is characterized by the inclusion of users from the very beginning of the design process and mainstream design development. To this end, it is just as important to extract and visualize key issues from the needs of the users, such as through direct interaction with them and awareness from observation, as it is in the final design process. In this paper, we will proceed with specific examples from Europe and Japan, with particular emphasis on the relationship between inclusive design and social innovation. Inclusive design requires the ability to decipher the relationships among people, things, environments, and matters, so students should strive for self-improvement in their observational skills to find defects and issues in the origins and state of relationships on a daily basis, and in their insight and creativity to reconstruct relationships from multiple perspectives.

インクルーシブデザイン（ユーザー参加型デザイン）は、イギリスのロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートにあるヘレンハムリン・センター・フォー・デザインなどが中心になって行われている国際的なデザイン活動である。デザインプロセスの最初の段階からユーザーを包含し、かつメインストリームのデザイン開発を進めていくのが特徴である。そのためには、ユーザーとの直接のやりとりや観察の中から気づきなど、ニーズの中から重要な課題を抽出し可視化することが、最終デザインと同様に重要である。本論では、ヨーロッパや日本の具体的な事例を題材に、特にインクルーシブデザインとソーシャルイノベーションの関係を重視しながら進めて行く予定である。インクルーシブデザインには、人・もの・環境・事柄相互の関係を読み解く能力が求められるため、日常的に関係の成り立ちと状態における不具合や課題を見つけだす観察力、そして多角的に関係を再構築する洞察力と創造力の自己研鑽に努めること。
