社会福祉学特講IV(NPO論)

Credit Bearing: 2
Level: Graduate

The Law for the Promotion of Specified Nonprofit Activities enacted in 1998 has contributed to the development of NPOs, but there are also social welfare corporations, school corporations, foundations, incorporated associations, and other nonprofit organizations. In this lecture, we will examine nonprofit organizations in general in relation to social welfare practice.

NPO Management

Credit Bearing: 2
Level: Undergraduate

A non-profit organization (NPO) is a private, non-profit organization established and operated by citizens working together. They work in diverse fields to solve social problems and provide services for the public good that are difficult for governments and corporations to address. Although it has been more than 20 years since NPOs first appeared in Japan, many of them are still fragile and immature organizations. Even for non-profit organizations, a management perspective is essential to sustain their activities and operations, as well as to continue employment. NPOs, which are supported by a large number of volunteers and supporters, require a different kind of management than government agencies or corporations. The question is whether NPOs will be able to develop through trial and error, without losing sight of their public interest objectives, and through management that is unique to NPOs.

NPO Management

Credit Bearing: 2

Nonprofit organizations (NPOs) are nonprofit organizations established and operated by citizens, working in diverse fields to solve social problems and provide services for the public good that are difficult for governments and corporations to address. Although it has been more than 20 years since NPOs first appeared in Japan, many of them are still fragile and immature organizations. Even for non-profit organizations, a management perspective is essential to continue their activities and operations, as well as to sustain employment. NPOs, which are supported by a large number of volunteers and supporters, require management that differs from that of governments and corporations. In the future, the question is whether NPOs will be able to develop through trial and error, without losing sight of their public interest objectives, and through management that is unique to NPOs. In this class, students will first understand the reality of NPOs and their social significance. We will then examine the characteristics and challenges of NPO management (organizational operations, finances, employment and volunteers) and the relationship between NPOs and other sectors (government and business). It is important for students to deepen their understanding and awareness of various issues in contemporary society that NPOs address through the class. Each session will consist of a lecture on a specific theme, and students will be asked to submit a reaction paper (impressions and questions) on an optional basis for each session. Questions will be commented on at the beginning of the next class.
We would like to ask students who have experience in NPO activities to present their activities as appropriate, so please be proactive and offer to do so. (Objectives) ・Understand the meaning of NPOs and their social significance.
To understand the actual situation of NPOs and their management characteristics.
To examine the management issues of NPOs.
To consider the significance of the existence of NPOs and the challenges they face in their activities and development.
Through the issues that NPOs have been tackling, students will gain an awareness of social changes and the challenges of modern society.
Through NPOs, students will consider what direction civil society should take in the future and how each citizen should relate to society.

NPO Theory

NPO論

Credit Bearing: 2
Level: Undergraduate

In recent years, the role and significance of NPOs in society has been increasing year by year. This course is not only a basic overview of what NPOs are, but also focuses on "researching, thinking and communicating". The lecturers will introduce a wealth of real-life examples, including their own experiences and examples of collaboration with corporations, and through exercises and presentations, the class will examine the challenges and achievements of actual NPO activities, their future role in society, and the significance of their existence, rather than generalities. The lecture plan is subject to change without notice.

Management of NPOs

NPOの経営

Credit Bearing: 2
Level: Undergraduate

NPOs (Non Profit Organizations), or non-profit organizations, can take many forms. Their common characteristic is that they make a difference to people, unlike private corporations that pursue profit while satisfying the needs of their customers, or governments that formulate and implement policy. Nonprofit organizations are straightforwardly self-fulfilling and require a high degree of management because they must draw on the strengths of volunteers.

NPO (Non Profit Organization)、
