This lecture will explain the theory, institutions, policies, functions and roles of NPOs (non-profit organizations) and NGOs (non-governmental organizations) in contemporary society, and will discuss the relationship between NPOs, NGOs and civil society and the challenges they face.

本講義では、NPO(非営利組織)／NGO(非政府組織)について、その理論、制度、政策や現代社会における機能や役割について、具体的な事例を多数まじえながら解説し、NPO／NGOと市民社会の関係、課題について考察する。

Citizen participation has already become indispensable in community development, but in some cases it has been limited to mere "participation. When considering the future of local communities, the activities of citizens who can take the initiative and NPOs and NGOs who play a leading role will become more important. In addition, the existence of key persons (such as community development architects and community architects) who support such activities is also significant. We will learn about the significance and roles of these people, and each of us will increase our awareness of society and link this to our own actions.

まちづくりにおいて市民参加はすでに不可欠となっているが、単なる「参加」に留まっている場合も見られる。これからの地域社会を考えるとき、主体的に活動できる市民、先導的な役割を果たすNPO・NGOの活動がより重要となる。また、そのような活動を支えるキーマン（まちづくり建築家やコミュニティアーキテクトなど）の存在も大きい。それらの意義、役割を学び、各自が社会への意識を高め、自らの行動に結びつける。

This course will analyze NPOs and NGOs, which have been attracting attention in recent years in a variety of settings and are expected to become a new type of social entity, mainly from a sociological perspective, focusing on their history and examples of their practices. By referring to various examples, we aim to understand why the "non=non" nature of NPOs and NGOs is necessary today. Furthermore, the course aims to understand what kind of society we live in today.

Learning Goals

First of all, the goal is to understand the "issues" of living in modern society. The second goal is to understand how NPOs and NGOs are involved with these issues. The third goal is to understand how NPOs and NGOs are specifically involved in the contemporary issues that we live with in our society.

近年、さまざまな場面で注目を集めたり、新しい社会のあり方のひとつの主体として期待を寄せられていたりしているNPOやNGOについて、その歴史や実践例を中心に、主に社会学的な関心から、分析していく。さまざまな事例などを参照しながら、なぜ、NPOやNGOの「Non=非」が現代において必要なのかを理解することを目的とする。さらに、これらのを通して現代社会がいかなる社会なのかを理解することを目的とする。

到達目標/Learning Goals

まず第一に、現代社会において社会で暮らす上での「課題」を理解することが目標である。その問題を理解した上で、NPO・NGOがどのような形でその問題と関わっているかを理解することが第二の目標である。そして、現代的な課題として具体的にどのようにNPO・NGOが私たちの社会で暮らす仕組みと関わっているかを理解することが第三の目標となる。
