Nonprofit Organization Theory

非営利組織論

Understand how economic and other theories explain the raison d'etre of nonprofit organizations, which are considered to be the bearers of civil society. The course will also examine the management and leadership of nonprofit organizations, focusing on the differences in mission, fundraising, finance, and marketing in the management of nonprofit organizations from the management of for-profit companies.

市民社会の担い手とされる非営利組織の存在意義について経済理論およびその他の理論でどのように説明がなされるかを理解する。また、非営利組織の経営におけるミッション、ファンドレイジング、ファイナンス、マーケティングなどについて、営利企業の経営との違いにも注目しながら、NPOのマネジメントとリーダーシップを考察する。

Nonprofit Sector Management

非営利セクターの経営

Acquire historical, institutional, and theoretical knowledge of private nonprofit organizations, which are considered to be the bearers of civil society in the future. Students will systematically learn about the importance of "mission," volunteerism, fundraising, and other issues that distinguish private nonprofit organizations from for-profit organizations, while taking into account recent theories of nonprofit management such as Drucker's. The course will also examine the division of roles and the nature of cooperation with the government and for-profit companies.

これからの市民社会の担い手とされる民間非営利組織についての歴史、制度や理論的知識を身につける。「使命」の重要性やボランティア、ファンドレイジングの問題等、営利企業の経営との違いについてドラッカーをはじめとした近年の非営利経営の理論をふまえつつ体系的に学ぶ。そのうえで、芸術文化やまちづくり等の分野における活動事例、マネジメント上の課題などについて概観し、あわせて、政府や営利企業等との役割分担や連携の在り方についても検討する。

NPO・NGO論

Understand the social background of Western Europe, which gave birth to NPOs and NGOs, and how they developed in Japanese society. In particular, the course will comprehensively study the rise of voluntarism and modern humanitarianism and how they developed, while learning about the origins of NPOs and NGOs and the characteristics of their activities through specific examples.

NPO・NGOを生み出した西欧の社会背景と日本社会の発展経緯を理解する。特に、ボランタリズムや近代人道主義の台頭とその発展経緯を包括的に学びながら、NPO・NGOの組織の成り立ちと活動の特長を具体的事例を通して学ぶ。NPO・NGOを監督する法律がどのように整備され、行政との連携が進んでいるのかを理解する。
