NPO・NGO論

Our society is composed of various entities (actors). There are three types of actors: the public sector, which plays a public role such as the national government, local governments, and parliaments; the for-profit sector, which is a for-profit entity such as private companies; and the non-profit sector, which is private but works to improve society. However, as social needs diversify, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the public sector to respond flexibly to these needs, due in part to financial limitations. Under these circumstances, the non-profit sector has come to play an important role. In this class, we will consider how each of us can get involved in the nonprofit sector by learning about the social roles and organizations of the nonprofit sector, especially NPOs and NGOs, and their collaboration with the public sector and the for-profit sector.

我々の社会は様々な主体（アクター）により構成されています。国や地方自治体、議会など公的な役割を果たす公共セクター、民間の企業など営利を目的とした営利セクター、そして、民間でありながら社会をよりよくするための活動をしている非営利セクターの３つがある。現在、これまで社会にある問題に対応し暮らしやすい社会形成を担ってきたのは公共セクターであったが、社会ニーズが多様化するなか、財政的な限界もあり、柔軟に対応することが困難になっている。そうした中、重要な役割を担うようになってきたのが非営利セクターである。この授業では、NPO・NGOを中心とした非営利セクターの社会的役割や組織のあり方、公共セクターや営利セクターとの協働について学習することで、一人ひとりが非営利セクターに関わることができるかを考える。
